George Routledge & Sons, 1948. Hardcover. Good/Good. 1948. First Edition. 160 pages. Cream jacket over green cloth with gilt titles to spine. Book not published until 1948 despite copyright page stating 1947, as errata slip explains. Unpaginated numbered plates to rear. Pages have slight foxing, tanning and minor thumbing. Pencil inscriptions to front endpaper. Plates are clean with minor thumbing and foxing. Boards have some moderate edge wear, with slight bumping to corners and minor bumping to spine ends. Gilt is bright. Unclipped jacket has moderate edgewear with chips and creasing. Jacket is heavily rubbed and marked overall. Spine is noticeably sunned.

Expected library inserts, stamps and inscriptions. Pages and plates are mildly tanned, but text and images remain clear. Binding is slightly shaky, but all pages remain attached. Boards have moderate shelf-wear, with noticeable corner bumping and some scuffing to edges. Spine ends are mildly crushed. Light bleach spotting to front board, and faint black marks to rear. Boards are slightly bowed.

London: Routledge, 1947. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Cloth Bound Boards. Very Good+/Good+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. 1947 First Edition. Size octavo, 8.5" tall. 160 Pages of text plus bound at the rear 10 pages of 20 black and white plates printed on glossy paper, reproductions of various paintings by various artists and dates. Green cloth covered boards with gilt titling to the spine, with the dust jacket. Book condition very good plus, corners and spine ends slightly rubbed, gilt on spine slightly dulled, text pages are slightly toned otherwise clean throughout, plate pages are very clean. Dust jacket condition good plus, minor creasing and tiny chips and slight darkening to upper edge of jacket, spine faded and also darkened, price has been clipped. The copyright statement on the rear of the title page states the date as 1947, however a small slip of paper tipped in below the copyright statement reads "Owing to production delays this book was not published until 1948
