Quarto, pp. viii, 952, June-November 1873, 6 issues of the magazine with marbled boards quarter-bound in brown morocco with gilt lettering to spine, former owner's name on endpages, very good with rubbed extremities. Includes two articles on piracy written and illustrated by Howard Pyle, plus illustrated articles by Charles Nordhoff, the famous co-author of the Bounty trilogy, on Hawaii and the Sacramento valley. Also here is an illustrated article on the Hampton Institute, the famous school for African-Americans in Virginia. Size: Quarto. Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing.
