Late 19th century reprint of Harper's popular history of the Civil War, with this issue continuing a piece on the war in Kentucky and Missouri; naval operations in the Civil War; an article on the federal government and slavery, looking at US treatment of enslaved people and their rights, and containing several large illustrations of African-Americans. Text begins and ends mid sentence in the book. GOOD condition. Wrappers browned. Some soiling and several stains to the covers. Paper a bit toned in the interior. Minor chipping and tearing along the edges. Offsetting along the edges.
