The spine is lightly faded, there are two small closed tears at the top edge of the back panel, and there is a small abrasion on the front of the dust jacket. "The hero of this story, young Kamik, achieves manhood during the hunt for a wounded polar bear and his long journey home alone, after his companions have been killed. The first piece of Eskimo fiction to be published in English describes life in the Canadian Arctic before the coming of the white man.
