Volume is of note for the 85 photogravure plates after Edward Curtis, C. Hart Merriam, and others. Also includes 5 maps and numerous text figures. The first editions of volumes one and two feature a large set of photogravures after Curtis, printed with a quality found in no later editions. Bound in green cloth boards with gilt lettering along spine, gilt decoration of seal and iceberg on front cover, gilt top page edge. Title page printed in black and red, with black and red vignette of Harriman Alaska Expedition banner and color frontis opposite. Shelfwear: moderate scuffing along cloth board edges, some light scuffs on cover boards. Tightly bound, no marks. All tissue guards are present. Volume is in Very Good condition..

Russian Hill Bookstore, established in 1974, is one of the last family-owned used and new bookstores in San Francisco. We began as Sunset Bookstore in 1974, a small used bookshop servicing the Sunset District west of 19th Avenue, and have been in continual operation for the past 43 years. Over the years Sunset Bookstore has since closed and merged with Russian Hill Bookstore, which has grown to become also the best note card shop in the city, and a favorite place for toys and games for children of all ages.
