Charles Darwin (1809-1882) kept a journal of his discoveries on the four year plus voyage of the 'Beagle' to the Galapagos Archipelago (1831-1836). This 1937 Second Edition, a journal form of 'The Voyage of the Beagle,' has a preface dated 1845. The book outlines Darwin's development and nature of the trip which strongly influenced his destiny. Charles W. Eliot served as Harvard's president (1869-1909) and as editor of the Harvard Classics Series. An introduction by Eliot of this work is included. This book is Volume 29 of the original Harvard Classics Series.
