Burgundy cloth with gilt titles on spine. Part First: Boards with moderate scuffing, light spotting. Edges gently bumped. Gilt lettering on spine bright and legible; ends gently bumped. Binding lightly cracked at rear hinge; previous owner's detailed notes and family genealogical records bound in at rear - records belonging to a member of the Emerson family. Binding otherwise sound, no missing pages. Front paste down with A. Emerson Babcock's bookplate; front end paper with inked notes. Contents pages with a few notes in margins & limited sidebars. Part Second: Rear board with light spotting, scuffed with minor shelf wear. Gilt lettering on spine bright, ends gently bumped. Binding lightly cracked at p. 112, 113. First grouping of pages starting, but intact. Owner's bookplate and notes similarly on front paste down & end paper. This volume without notes in text..
