De Havilland 80A Puss Moth fitted with Skis

Large, unframed, single b/w matted photo of a 1934 De Havilland 80A Puss Moth fitted with Skis.(CF-AVA) Information from the Canadian Civil Aircraft Register, indicates that this aircraft was owned and operated by the Consolidated Mining and Smelting Company (C.M.& S. - Cominco Ltd) until August, 1936. Other printed info on the back of the photo states that this was taken on a flight from Trail to Rossland, January 31, 1935, with amateur photographer and airplane mechanic, Doug W. Burt as the photographer and Jim Warren, pilot. According to the CCAR, this aircraft changed ownership four times and was WFU (withdrawn from use) in 1942 due to wartime restrictions, and was found in storage in Kelowna, B.C. in 1950. Since then it has resurfaced after meticulous restoration; appearing in the 2010s at fly-ins with its original blue and orange Cominco livery.(from Canavbooks website) Photo is taped to the matting on the back.
