New York: Harper & Brothers, 1949. In Gilbert's scarce second mystery, Inspector Hazelrigg's invesigation of a crime wave points toward a psychologist exploiting veterans. Later printing, H-Y (August, 1949.) Bumped and rubbed with a bit of wear at the extremeties, a couple of spots sunned where the jacket is chipped. Front end paper excised, light foxing to the end papers with tape residue on the pastedowns and flaps. Previous owner's name on the half title page, binding square and solid. Jacket rubbed and foxed with chips and tears, including a 5" tear up the rear spine fold and a 2" tear with creases up the lower front spine fold. Price intact, in new Brodart. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Hard Cover. Good/Fair.
