This is the report, published for the Commonwealth Fund, of a major study of the Health Insurance Plan of Greater New York, which began operation in 1947 to provide prepaid medical care by group practice medical centers that emphasized preventive services as well as treatment for illness and injury; the Health Insurance Plan was developed by a committee appointed by Mayor LaGuardia to develop an affordable community-sponsored insurance plan which would enable people of modest income to obtain adequate, competent medical care (blue cloth with gold lettering, slightly rubbed, former owner's bookplate on front pastedown; otherwise a good, clean, tight copy)
