Boston: Printed for the Society, May 1928. Hardcover. 4to (12 x 9.5"), green cloth. Color half-title, [10], 491-588 pp., 50 b&w plates. CONDITION: Good, spine lightly sunned, covers toned and lightly soiled, .5" paint mark on lower left of upper cover, no foxing, images clean, sound binding. First edition of a scarce monograph on the now-extinct heath hen, last seen on Martha's Vineyard. Authored by a Bowdoin College professor. Color half-title by Louis Agassiz Fuertes, the second-most prolific American bird artist after Audubon.
