Cover also has small gold shield with central cross. NOT ex-library. Hinges NOT cracked. Binding cracked at page 51 but still intact; webbing showing. Name in pencil on front free endpaper. Gift inscription on front free endpaper, dated 1930. Corners and spine ends bumped and rounded. Covers have moderate edge wear and surface rubbing. Covers very lightly curled. Pages very lightly and uniformly tanned but still supple. Some pages have light brown stains in the margins. Page 51 has the top corner torn off; text unaffected. 54 pages. No dust jacket. Consists of quotations and maxims from various sources, divided into sections: God and Eternity, Self and Duty, Neighbor and Charity, Religion and Morality, Conduct and Character, Death and Piety. Carefully packed, shipped in a box.
