Garden City, New York: Doubleday & Company Inc., 1946. First Edition Stated . Hardcover. Very Good +/Good+. Patricia Highsmith's contribution "The Heroine" was first published in Harper's Bazaar magazine, this may be her first story published in book form. Truman Capote's contribution "Miriam" also very early work published in book form. Nice clean copy, black cloth with bright titles in gilt on spine, solid binding, former owner's name and date Dec. 25, 1946 on front pastedown, mostly hidden by the dust jacket flap. Dust jacket has a few short closed edge tears, chip at base of spine, mild fading of the spine panel, presents well in a new mylar sleeve.
