About This Item

Boston, MA: Houghton, Mifflin and Company. Very Good+. 1907. Limited Edition; 1st Printing. Hardcover. This book is number 564 in an unknown limitation. The book is in Very Good+ condition and is lacking the dust jacket. The book and its contents are in generally clean, bright condition. There is some edge wear, bumping and rubbing to the spine ends and corners along with some paper loss to the bottom corners from rubbing. There are a couple of small spots of discoloration to the covers and toning to the paper spine label. The text pages are clean and bright with the exception of a previous owner's address label on the front pastedown. "Norton was elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1860. He began teaching at Harvard in 1874. In 1875, he was appointed professor of the history of art at Harvard, a chair which was created for him and which he held until retirement in 1898. He "centered his teaching upon the golden ages of art history -- classical Athens, the Italian Gothic style of Venetian architecture, and the Florence of the early Renaissance." " (from Wikipedia) .
