About This Item
Hardcover, published by World Publishing Company, 1945. This is a sixth printing copy from May 1945. Drawings by Carol Johnson. Classic report from Pyle on the US soldiers who were sent to North Africa; from the unrelenting combat in the desert to the final victory in Tunis. 246 pages, 5-3/4" X 8-1/4". Green cloth covered board, with the author name and title imprinted on the spine in silver. Boards are flat, the corners are not bumped or creased. No dust jacket. All lettering on the boards is crisp and still legible. Binding is tight and square. Former owner's name written in blue ink on the front paste-down page - about 2" X 1/4", and dated 1945. Age tanning to the text pages appropriate for this edition considering the paper stock used for wartime books. Not a library discard. The attached photo is of the copy we have in our inventory.
