Watts & Co., 1949. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. 310 pages, with bibliography and index. First Thinker's Library edition of book originally published 1936. The Thinker's Library #133. With original preface and short preface to Thinker's Library Edition, by the author. 4-1/2" x 7", faded red cloth with rubbed silver gilt lettering, very faded red (?) topstain, end papers decorated with Watts logo (W + oil lamp) in red as repeating pattern, light wear to corners, heavier to heel and crown, 3/4" tear along front edge of spine from crown, spine sunned, foxing to end papers and front matter pages, front hinge cracked at title page, a few pages accidentally dog-eared at top. Bookstore price in pencil and names of former owners Profs. Ann and Warner Berthoff written on ffep, her underscoring and/or marginalia on approximately 45 pages. Laid-in clipping (from TLS?) of review of Lord Raglan's The Temple and the House, from August 1964.
