About This Item
Darmstadt: Hermann Gentner Verlag, 1956 Wege der Forschung, Vol. II. To read the Foreword to this volume, written by Helmut Kämpf, one gets the strong impression that this collection of nine articles from historical journals represents a postwar attempt at Vergangenheitsbewältigung, or "mastering the past." The articles deal with medieval stages in the growth of "the German Volksorganism" and its "political existence." All written by major German historians between 1939 and 1953, they focus on the positive elements in the medieval "constitution" of the budding German state. Among them are Otto Brunner, Heinrich Mitteis, Walter Schlesinger and Gerd Tellenbach. Light gray cloth cover has water stains both sides at top, and minor bumping. Owner's name on front endpaper. Otherwise the copy is clean and the book is structurally sound. This may be the only copy available in North America. Avoid shipping charges from Europe. . Original Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" Tall; 13 x 20.
