London: William Kidd, 1831. First Edition, First Printing. Illustrated Wraps. Good/No Dust Jacket As Issued. Illustrations after Robert Cruikshank (1789-1856).

Sown wraps which are soiled; wear on the spine edge, though the signatures are firm. Text is clean and evenly toned. Corners with small dog-ears. 4 by 6.5 inches tall; 36 pages with publisher's adverts on the outer rear cover. Loose tissue-guards before the wood-engravings.. Contains biographies of the most famous racehorses of the late 18th century including Eclipse, King Herold, Marsk, Forrester and others. Additionally, stories of famous races are included.

From the title page: "by the late Charles Dibdin; to which are added many interesting anecdotes of the racehorse; illustrated by ten first-rate engravings on wood by G.W. Bonner, from designs by Robert Cruikshank."
