Illustrated children's book about a boy who saves a "negro" woman and her children on a shanty-boat from a flood on the Arkansas River, with colorful illustrations by Henry C. Pitz. Illustrated board cover with red cloth spine, in good condition, despite wear and fraying around all extremities. Inside pages clean and bright aside fom slight age-discoloration. Name of previous owner, James Perry, and the date, 1946, written neatly on right inside page. The boy, Tad, gets a medal and there is much praise of his good deed, but he insists, "But I didn't do anything. It just all came about like it did".. Hard Cover. Good/None. Illus. by Henry C. Pitz. 10 1/4 x 7 1/4.
