About This Item
Hodder and Stoughton 1972 hard cover + dust jacket Previous owner's incription on fep, otherwise good book in good dustjacket with minor shelfwear. The Brave World of Hilary Pole. For 7 years, she existed in the literally "dead" world of silence and darkness. Completely paralysed from the age of 20, crippled with a rare disease that prevented nerve impulses from reaching her muscles, she presented a hopeless case. She had less than one-sixteenth of an inch movement in her big toe, but working on this minuscule movement, a very sensitive micro-switch was developed that could control several machines including an electric typewriter.
