About This Item

London/ New York: Eyre & Spottiswoode/ Charles Scribner's Sons, 1929 Book. Illus. by Wildrake and Heath/John Jellicoe. Good Plus to Very Good. Hardcover. Reprint; #455 of 976. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Original; red cloth on boards. Title and two colour plates incised. Library gift bookplate and rejection stamps, but no signs of circulation. This binding matches the other Surtees titles I have just listed. Top edges gilt. To get a Review, I suggest the Surtees Society page. The Preface states, "...The agricultural portion of it is not meant to discourage improvement, but to repress the wild schemes of theoretical men, who attend farmers' meetings for the pleasure of hearing themselves talk...." Perhaps you get the idea. Just imagine Jorrocks as the new head of Hillingdon Hall, with Pigg as his right-hand man ! Paper label on lightly faded spine. 477 pp. Heavy book will need extra postage..
