New York: Consolidated Book Publishers, 1943. Hardcover_cloth. Used - VeryGood/No Jacket. War time production. 5.75"x8.25". 622 pgs. Peoples Book Club Edition. Light cocoa cloth boards w/blind stamp of author's name on front. Title in gilt inside maroon box on spine. Beautiful New England scenery in green as paste downs. Spine straight, binding tight, pages slightly toned. PON insided front cover. Not x-library. Bumps to corners and fraying to edge. Light soiling to cover. Also the Hills is a searching portrait of an American family in a time of crisis. A very touching story, taking place from the outbreak of WWII, in New England, this is the story of the Farman family, who had lived quiet, industrious lives On Farman Hill for generations until war came. Keyes, herself married to a Washington politician, revealed, in this book, the failings of Congress as she wrote about a congressman who betrayed his country because of his sympathy for Germany. Beautifully written, with well-drawn characters and scenic imagery. Goodreads 3.99.
