About This Item
Barryton, NY: Open Book, [1981].. 115pp. Oblong quarto. Black cloth, lettered in silver. Heavily illustrated with photographs. About fine in lightly (and inevitably) rubbed pictorial dust jacket. First edition of this highly pictorial log of the 1980 creation of Hines's wrapped Arch installation in Washington Square, supplemented with an account of the artist and his earlier works. Inscribed and signed by Hines on the acknowledgements page: "4/8/83 For Fred, Looking forward to an appropriate blend of N.Y. and Texas - Francis Hines." Hines and his work are currently undergoing a substantial revival of interest following the 2017 rescue from a barn clearing project of a major pile of his work. This book is now uncommonly elusive.
