1948. Reprint. Like New/No dustjacket. In Near Fine condition. A facsimile edition, originally published in 1864. No publishers statement, but with bookseller label of Ray Riling on rear pastedown. Therefore, probably most likely by Compton Engraving and Printing Co. for B. Leroy Compton and Ray Riling. Limited to 500 copies (Riling); the appendix being a reprint of the author's Practical Directions for the Use of the Rifle, 1861. With discussion on the skill of old english archers - causes and effects of it, general principles of rifle practice, the target rifle reduced to practical use, projectile force, merits of different classes of guns, metallic cartridges, descriptions of rifles, my own choice of a rifle, essays on rifles by Edward Stabler, and more.
