Paris, 1650. Leather bound. VG (very light wear to leather boards, bookplates inside front covers, pages have light aging as expected but are otherwise very clean). Two volume set in full black leather boards with extensive gilt tooling covering front, rear and spine. Spines have 4 raised bands and gilt lettering, all edge gilt. Volume 1 is 760 pp, small bw illustration on title page, bw frontispiece, light blue silk ribbon marker. Volume 2 is 645pp, 94 pp, small bw illustration on title page. Two volume set. Text is in French. History of the ministry of Armand Iean du Plessis cardinal duke of Richelieu, under the reign of Louys the Just, XIII of the name, king of France and Navarre. With political reflections & various letters, containing the negotiations of the affairs of Piedmont & Montferrat. "Affairs d'Italie de L'année M. DC. XXXIX", has separate paging: 1 l., 92 p. (at end of 2nd volume). Condemned to be burned by order of the Parlement of Paris, May 11, 1650. Biography of Armand Jean du Plessis, Duc de Richelieu.
