About This Item
Paris, Chez Marc Orry,, 1600.. 1600 8vo. [8], 375, [17] fol. Modern quarter calf binding with old marbled boards to match the marbled edges and vellum tipped corners in the style of the older French binding. The old flat, gold tooled spine re-laid. New endpapers of matching handmade paper. Water stain, mostly marginal at the foot of first and last pages, otherwise internally clean and tight. The second French edition of the most important Spanish account of their Central American discoveries, the first French edition having appeared in 1598. A very nice copy.
