About This Item

Fortune Press, London, 1928. Book. Near Fine. Cloth. 108 pages. Hardcover. Duodecimo (7 x 4 1/4 inches). Text in English (Translated, or "Englished," by G. M. Gent). Number 55 in a limited edition of 1025. Brown acid rectangular stain on the front free endpaper, presumably from something previously laid in there that left a mark. Light rubbing and wear to the covers and edges. Else, the binding is tight, the interior free of other markings. Reprint of the twelfth edition from 1802 that omits "The Discreet Princess" believed to not have been written by Perrault. Charmingly illustrated with colored woodcuts cut from photographs of the woodcuts in the 1802 edition, and most probably the same images used in the first English edition around 1700 and the 1697 Paris edition. Includes Sleeping Beauty, Cinderilla, Master Cat, and others. A handsome production of some exceptionally fine stories..
