Chicago: P.L. Hanscom & Co., Printers, 1867. 8vo. 220 x 145 mm., [8 ½ x 5 ¾ inches]. 76 pp., Illustrated with one image in the text and 5 plates. Orig. printed wrappers; some light soling and minor wear; sound and attractive copy. Scarce genealogy of a pioneering family in Illinois. The family hailed from New Hampshire. The plates include a coat of arms, three finely rendered views (after photographs?) of the "family mansion" and two other homesteads in New Hampshire, and an excellent group portrait of the compiler and five siblings: Jonas C.; Samuel P.; Ebenezer; Lewis C.; and Elizabeth. Julius B. Champney (b. 1811) immigrated to Illinois in 1855. At the time of the 1860 census he resides in Peru, southwest of Chicago and by 1870 had moved to Macoupin, Ill., northeast of St. Louis.
