Introduction by Stephen W. Dimick. This special edition was prepared from the original 1940 edition. This book was printed and bound by Quebecor Printing. The text paper was specially made for this edition by P. H. Glatfelter Company. The binding is of genuine pigskin, furnished by the Cromwell Leather Company. endleaves are 300-denier silk morire. Edges are gilded and spines are brass-die stamped in 22-karat gold. Cover stampings and design of this edition by Selma Ordewer. A highly absorbing history as well as a complete record of the types and models of Colt firearms from 1836-1940. A photograph of each model of the Colt revolver and facsimiles of numerous contemporary and historical documents. The book covers the period from 1814, when Samuel Colt was born to 1940. It contains 18 chapters of Colt arms and their manufacture,treated chronologically and by type groups. Contains 163 halftone illustrations of Colt arms. It is 4 parts. Part 1 is history, part 2 is antique and obsolete models, part 3 is documents, part 4 is facsimiles of patents. Colt's Manufacturing Company, LLC is an American firearms manufacturer, founded in 1855 by Samuel Colt. It is the successor corporation to Colt's earlier firearms-making efforts, which started in 1836. Colt is known for the engineering, production, and marketing of firearms, most especially between the 1850s and World War I, when it was a dominating force in its industry and a seminal influence on manufacturing technology.
