Protective plastic jacket has been taped to endpapers, previous owner's name stamp on endpapers, related ephemera loosely inserted, very good condn. Scharf was an officer of the Confederate States Navy. He wrote this account a few years after the end of the Civil War, basing it on research and interviews with Confederate naval officers, as well as on his own firsthand observations. Reprint. Boards.
