(no dust jacket) [considerable external wear, soiling and spotting to a number of pages, and a previous owner's initials plus date & circumstances of acquisition written in ink along the edge of the rear pastedown; ALSO note that the book's covers have been completely encased in clear plastic tape, that may or may not be removable (I'm certainly not going to try)]. (frontispiece drawing) I can't possibly describe the contents of this volume better than its fulsome subtitle, to wit: "containging: His Original; A State of His Circumstances; His Conduct Public and Private; The Various Turns of His Affairs from Adam Down to This Present Time; The Various Methods He Takes to Converse with Mankind; With the Manner of His Making Witches, Wizards, and Conjurers; And How They Sell Their Souls to Him, Etc. Etc.; the whole Interspersed with Many of the Devil's Adventures. To Which is Added A Description of the Devil's Dwlling, Called Hell." The wonderful frontispiece drawing depicts "The Devil at Home," perusing a newspaper while relaxing in a comfortable armchair. 296 pages + 22 pages of ads. .
