Hardback in slipcase, bound in blue faux leather with gilt titling to spine. 24 × 15.5cm, 475pp, [5]. An encyclopaedic history of Dover Harbour, from the primitive harbour, of the earliest times through its development in the seventeenth century, transport to and from, enlargement in the mid-Victorian age and international communications, and through the First and Second World Wars, up to the 1960s, with a final chapter on threats and expansion (inc the Channel Tunnel). Appendices include a list of steamships working Dover regularly from 1821 to 1976, and members and officials of some selected Harbour Boards 1606 to 1979. The books is illustrated with maps, plans and photographs. Condition: The book is in very good condition, with a few spots of foxing to the pages' lower edge. The inner binding is secure and the pages clean. The slipcase has a few scuffs, marks and bumps but has done its job well in protecting the book. **PLEASE NOTE: As this is a heavy book, postage may have to be increased for overseas (non-UK) buyers, or decreased where appropriate.
