London, Printed for Jacob Tonson, at Shakespear’s-Head, 1720 3rd. Large hardback, 15.5 x 10 inches. Full tree calf leather binding. Gilt banding and maroon leather label to spine. In good condition. Boards a little worn; edges and corners rubbed with chips and bumps. Has had previous repairs to corners and spine, but subsequently cracked along spine. Rubbing to boards. Binding loose at rear. Inscribed previous owners label to front “Richard & Mary Hodgkinson, Barnby Moor 1853.” Some mild to moderate areas of foxing (mostly very light but some occasional pages more tanned and foxed) Minor water stain to corner of dedication pages. A couple of neat penned notes to text. 1150pp + Index. With decorative head, tail & letterpieces, including portraits of Kings & Queens in headers.
