Macquoid's four "ages" are still terms used today, and the books remain an essential reference guide for dealers and collectors of antique furniture. 4 volumes, folio (379 x 277 mm). Finely bound for William Brown of Edinburgh in red half morocco, spines lettered in gilt, red cloth sides, top edges gilt. 60 colour plates with captioned tissue-guards. Some light rubbing, small patch of wear to rear cover of vol. I, front cover of vol. III cockled, foxing to endpapers and plates, vol. II plate 1 reinserted, vol. III plate 14 repaired to lengthy tear. A good set.
