Vols. 1-2, 4, 5th ed. Vols. 5-7, 3rd ed. Vol. 8, 2nd ed. Vols. 9-10, 1st ed. Dates, 1841-1843. All nine volumes uniformly bound in full leather with speckled surface pattern on covers. Spines have five raised bands with gilt rope design. Gilt title in one panel on each: "Alison's French Revolution"; volume and dates on dark leather label in another panel. Remaining panels have gilt decorations and borders. Gilt scalloped borders on covers, gilt ruled borders on edges, and gilt floral vine design on interior edges of covers. Matching marbled page edges and endpapers have red, white and blue "Antique Straight" marbling pattern. Bindings tight. Hinges mostly intact, with some just starting to crack in a few volumes, but still strong. Edges rubbed, Cover surfaces lightly rubbed, more so at the centers, with minor scuffing on some volumes. Slight loss to spine title lettering on a few volumes. Imprinted armorial bookplate on front endpaper of each volume. Pages lightly tanned, more so at periphery, but still supple. Pages clean and unmarked. No dust jackets, as issued. All volumes except vol. 5: "Edinburgh: Printed by Ballantyne and Hughes, Paul's Work, Canongate"; Vol. 5: Edinburgh: Printed by Neill & Co., Old Fishmarket Close". Carefully packed, shipped in a box.
