About This Item

London: Stanley Paul, 1991. A semi-circular piece torn away from back panel of unclipped dustwrapper (by a parrot, previous owner tells me), minor bumping to spine ends and corners of green boards, otherwise a good clean tight copy of this hard-cover book. A history of the wandering English Cricket team I Zingari (The Gypsies), founded as a purely amateur side in 1845. Originally published in 1982, this is a revised edition from 1991 which takes the story up to 1990, with a new foreword by former England captain George Mann. Paper label on f/ep with handwritten message "With grateful thanks. George Mann's signature page vii. William Becher 7/6 1991". Becher was the Honorary Secretary of the club, and a former amateur player himself. 152pp, numerous colour and b&w illustrations.. Hard Cover. Good/Fair. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
