The book includes chapters on colonial history, topography and natural wonders, early pioneers, courts and government, county seat controversy, Marianna and her early outstanding citizens, a ghost town, pioneer churches, pioneer schools, transportation, banks, post offices and newspapers, politics, an economic "who's who" of the pre-Civil War period, the Civil War with names of Confederate soldiers, John Milton's administration in the war years, the Battle of Marianna, the tragic events of the reconstruction era, election of 1876 ending carpetbagger rule, the second reconstruction, Graceville, the 20th Century, the peanut industry, and clubs and organizations.
