Profusely illustrated; 16 colorplates and numerous text figures, some of which are full-page. x,454 pp. Octavo. Red three-quarter morocco, red cloth sides, gilt title and some decoration at spine, marbled endpapers, a.e.g. Spine is sunned, top joint just starting, with some superficial rubbing at bands and joints, and general light soiling overall. Text leaves and illustrations are clean. A solid and very good copy of this history of lace and lace-making; it includes a bibliography of pattern book for lace and embroidery from 1527 through 1784.
