Early history of Wisconsin's capital city, based in part on settlers' reminiscences; including Indian troubles, traders, surveys, politics, schools, churches, Civil War, Capital buildings, railroads, boats. This is the rather scarcer illustrated edition, with 19 mounted albumen photos by "Jones" on ten leaves, including portraits, buildings, & views. Durrie was Librarian at the State Historical Society. Hardcover, recently rebound in full green cloth, paper spine label. Light wear, minor foxing & staining; photo pages and those adjacent cockled from the mounting process. Text clean; 420 pages; index, appendix giving brief histories of Dane County's towns, lists of local officials, albumen photos. . First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. Illus. by Jones. Octavo.
