First ed.; 336, plus 2-page listing of titles in Abbott's Juvenile Series. clean and unmarked except for name of former owner on front end page and at top of t.p., written in beautiful calligraphic hand; colorful illuminated cover within boards, with tissue guard; 23 fine engravings, including 2 maps ; paper strong and of fine quality, only mildly age-oned, binding firm; red boards blind stamped with ornamental design;gilt lettering on spine. However, edges are bumped, with some rubbing on edges--the crown and foot of spine quite abraded.
