The National Intelligencer and Washington Advertiser was a newspaper published in Washington, D.C., from 1800 to 1870. The author examines the important roles played by the founding editor, Samuel Harrision Smith, and the paper's primary editors, Joseph Gales, Jr., and William Winson Seaton. He also "summarizes the paper's public position on almost every important issue from 1807 until 1865." -- dust jacket. Book is in Near Fine Condition: top page edges slightly soiled; otherwise, clean and tight. Dust jacket is in Very Good+ Condition: edges rubbed; spine slightly soiled; otherwise, clean and bright.
