Dublin: Printed for Messrs. P. Wogan, P. Byrne, J. Moore and W. Jones., 1794. xi, 446pp. Contemprary full calf. Leather worn and rubbed, surface layer starting to lift at bottom front corner with small triangular piece missing, and with hinges cracked but holding firmly. Prev owners names in ink on front free endpaper (xx'd out but including Daniel Maddux Jun; John Campbell), adhesive remnants on front pastedown (probably from early bookplate), childish drawing and scrawl in pencil on blank preceeding first page of text and again on rear pastedown, column of figures also in pencil on rear free endpaper. Several page corners turned/creased and some age toning. There is a puncture/small hole piercing the front free endpaper and title page (not affecting text). No maps present, otherwise complete. The first volume of what Sabin refers to as the best account of the American Revolution from the point of view of the British. The author served under Hows, Clinton and the Marquis Cornwallis during the conflict.. First Irish Edition. Hard Cover. Fair to Good. 8vo.
