G- (Ex-art library; rebound sometime with denim tape; plastic and taped labels on outer spines; pockets and cards at rear; some pages are loose but present; some pages have a few tears or small pieces missing; vol. 5 is missing opening pages with numbered colophon and tipped-in color frontispiece; vol. 7 front hinge was unglued and has been temporarily repaired; page surfaces are aging slightly and have clear text; plate pages carry embossed library stamp that often covers the edge or corner of the tipped-in color plate; plates are loosening though all are present; could be a candidate for rebinding, with care.). 8 vols. Forest green cloth boards, denim-like tape on spines and corners; gilt top edges; 2253 total pp., 200 tipped-in color plates; several fold-outs. The complete 8-volume set of this consideration on various European painters, covering generally five centuries, from 1400-1900. Approaches the topic both chronologically and geographically: v. 1.
