Starting as the Sacramento Valley Rail Road in 1852, the line grew to be one of the largest railroads in the United States. In this work, the story is told in words and in color and b&w photos; with route maps and tables. --- In black paper-covered boards with gilt-stamped spine titling. Jacket features color photo of locomotive 4449 wearing the famous SPRR Daylight paint scheme. --- A very nice copy: bright, tightly-bound and newish.
