About This Item

Softcover volume, measuring approximately 6.25" x 9.25", is like new. xvii/355 pages. "This is a compilation of essays, most of which have been previously published, which the editors feel could be useful in a film course. Most examine a single film; a few cover general themes. Some of the essays appear to take Hitchcock interpretation to extreme limits. Others are more accessible, but they will be most valuable to those who have seen the films, preferably more than once. Much of this ground has been tilled before, notably in Raymond Durgnat's "Strange Case of Alfred Hitchcock" (1974) and William Rothman's "Hitchcock: The Murderous Gaze" (1982). Nevertheless, this sometimes provocative work is recommended for cinema collections."
