Rare offprint of an essay on Hokusai from Les Arts Plastiques, published by Éditions de la Connaissance of Brussels. The essay marks the 100th anniversary of the death of Hokusai (1760-1849) and is part of a package of articles on the Musées Royaux d'Art et d'Histoire of Belgium (Royal Museums of Art and History).
Besides the essay, the offprint features several black-and-white prints and a list of more than 120 works (mostly prints) owned by the Belgian museums. The offprint is dated November 1949-January 1950. Text entirely in French.
This publication is rare; OCLC shows a single institutional holding, at Belgium's Royal Library.
PHYSICAL DETAILS: Octavo (8 5/8 x5 3/4 inches; 220 x 147 mm), 15, [1] pages, in stapled, illustrated wrappers (soft cover).
CONDITION: Soling to covers, some general handling wear, and rusting to staples but the pages are clean and unmarked. About Very Good.
