Original light teal cloth, titled in gilt, with two copies of original pictorial jacket; plain endpapers; vi,325pp; list of other Forester titles facing half-title. Straight and tight, spine lightly sunned, paper mellowing gently: Very Good. First jacket unclipped (priced $3.50), spine sunned, edges gently rubbed, minor spots of soil to edges, rear cover, front flap, and verso, small tape stain to rear: just Very Good. Second jacket price-clipped, spine faded, edges rubbed, light dirt to rear cover but otherwise clean: Very Good. The eighth published Hornblower novel, fifth in the books' internal chronology; precedes the UK first edition by two months.

Synopsis

Hornblower and the Atropos is a 1953 historical novel by C.S. Forester. In this novel, Horatio Hornblower is assigned to the Atropos, the smallest vessel in the English navy that qualifies to be commanded by a post-Captain, as he hunts for treasure in the Mediterranean Sea.
