About This Item

Boston: Little Brown & Co., 1964. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Poor. Samuel Bryant - Maps & Illus.. Hardcover/ DJ (price-clipped, apparently a gift); VG+/ Poor condition. Stated First Edition; 1st printing- no note of further ones. DJ totaly separated between spine & back panels; otherwise small chips, tears (one is 3 along side of front foldover flap; top 2"" of spine panel is attached, but torn sideways), edge wear, rubbing, light soil, spine discolor. DJ is still largely all there & actually may look good if in mylar. Book is VG+ to Near Fine. Maroon cloth binding is tight, bright, clean & square; maybe just a touch of edge wear- basically unmarred. Especially striking is gold stamped profile of frigate H. M. S. Lydia- bright, crisp & totally intact, as is all gold lettering on the binding. Copy displays extremely well. Owner bookplate inside front cover, as well as small name/ address label in 1 corner. Gift note (neatly penned) dated 1964 on 1st blank page (trace of old paperclip rust at top of reverse of this page- v. minor). Text is tight, bright, clean, unmarked. NO hinge splits, NOT ex library. Handsome, well preserved copy.
