About This Item
Random House, 1954. Hardcover. Very good/Acceptable. First edition, but either a third or later printing. Impossible to know for sure because the book was price clipped. Back illustration has partial ear, no cloud, two branches all indicating a later printing. All pages are clean and unmarked. Binding and hinges are secure. Moderate rubbing and edge wear to jacket, with some closed tears and heavy chipping to spine ends. Front inner jacket flap almost detached from the rest of the jacket, but still hanging on.
Synopsis
Horton Hears a Who! is a 1954 book by Theodor Seuss Geisel, under the name Dr. Seuss. It is the second Seuss book to feature Horton the Elephant, the first being Horton Hatches the Egg. The Whos would later make a reappearance in How the Grinch Stole Christmas!. After WWII, Geisel was able to end his feelings of animosity towards Japan, using his book Horton Hears a Who as an allegory for the American post-war occupation of Japan, as well as dedicating the book to a Japanese friend.
