The text is illustrated with numerous black and white illustrations and photographs. Bright green coloured boards with red coloured titles to the back strip. Illustrated dustwrapper (wraparound with red and black coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. A re-evaluation of dinosaurs, where the author asks is the Victorian belief that dinosaurs were cold-blooded and and had pea brains, in fact lizards?. Then, how did the 'ostrich dinosaur' maintain speeds of 50 miles an hour, or, how did the Tyrannosaurus and the Triceratops have sustained gladiatorial combat with only of physiology of lizard? With new discoveries of dinosaurs with stereo vision, manipulative fingers and giant brains of newly discovered dinosaurs the author suggests that dinosaurs were not in fact sluggish lizards but, " ... that they (dinosaurs) were warm-blooded and energetic, with the stamina of living mammals." – from front fold over panel blurb.
